Round 5 The “480”
Showing up Saturday night is a big part of the fun that a lot missed on such a great weekend, time to sit around the fire and talk about how you are going to steal your competitors rear tire right before the race or try to sway the fast guys into a few strong Crown and cokes before race. Batman and Danny Malcom and I plus Mike Pierce and his group had a great time Saturday night. David Rogers came in with Josh Korba behind him and we helped put brakes on Korba's bike.
So the race starts and I get out front and realized that I hadn't checked out the entrance well into woods and was all over the place in that section loosing 4 places to the fast guys in my class, Batman, Ralph,Mark and David Rogers so we entered the woods and right at first Stevie a ROCK SNAKE grabs my front wheel and slams me down right at the entrance blocking both, but 5 of my class get through and Dan Malcolm stops and protects me from getting run over.
I heard a few are you OK's as some passed by and I'm trying to get up and get my leg untwisted from under my bike and get the rocks out of my mind. Glad I was wearing full gear. knee pads, elbow pads and neck brace, chest protector because I used them all on this crash, banged up knees above knee pads, right arm with road rash and sudden stop to the head all protected.
I'm in 5 th when I go down and knowing I have many getting past now,(5) more and I finally get going again with Dan Malcolm on my tail. After I cleared my head I got into racing mode again and started passing using those STEVIE'S that Spud said we were not using and I got 7 or 8 in first lap including Mike Milburn who knew who was behind him and was awful nice to let me pass. The previous passes were all earned. Well now I make to the scoring lane and to my surprise back in 5 TH and I stayed on it on this AWESOME course and ended up 4 TH on next lap because Mark Mawby hit my favorite tree on spectator hill. Finished 4 TH and happy with my results because David Rogers, Ralph Moore and Batman are all 2 minutes faster than me usually anyway.
Monday was a tough day with some minor rock damage to my OLD body and a twisted ankle that got better by end of day with a little ibuprofen helper. Carol says I like the pain a little too much anyway.

RIDING IS NOT A HOBBY, IT'S A LIFESTYLE
