Colorado Vacation, WFO Trailriders
Carol and I packed up Saturday morning after working on the FJ Friday night again finishing the modifications done throughout the 6 weeks before our 4X4 vacation starting 9-22-2012 with the help of WFO Trailriders Mikey and Damon with long weekends and days working out in my back yard. I still had a slight vibration at idle from the new transfer case shield to the exhaust from tight clearance, so we worked on this Friday night late, after 6 weeks of modifications for the hardcore trails planed.
We left at 9.30 Am and drove for 11 hours, stopping at Hays Kansas for lunch and gas only and made it to Manitou Springs Colorado where we had a motel at the Eagle Motel (Great place, good management right in town close to restaurants for around $75.00 a night). We went to the Keg, (Local hangout, best steak and food around ) in Manitou Springs. Try the Blue cheese Prime rib around $20.00 but worth it.
The FJ got around 12 MPG on the start and when we got close to Colorado, we get 14 MPG, loaded with gear and top carrier and a little over 75 MPH the whole way. Both Carol and I had a little anxiety because of all of the new untested Mods and also the slight angle of the CV’s from the 3.5 front lift. The FJ did great and was just a little soft on the suspension now and hard to get used to with the added height and when the wind hits it sideways, but is good, and we are now 100% confident with modifications. The WFO Trailriders made this one strong.
Worn out and did not sleep a lot and weather report for Sunday at 11 Mile Reservoir is cold in the morning and warm the rest of the day with chance of showers, up at 6. Am and going down to our favorite breakfast place shortly.

Day 2 of our trip was spending the day at 11 mile reservoir fishing. Aot of big trout and pike are caught here. some 6 feet long because this is a very deep olld lake.

Here is a picture of my front factory skid that I did not have time to engineer for this vacation after Taylor Pass. I went to my Dads and repaired and cut the ends off to accept clearance of tires.

RE: Colorado Vacation, WFO Trailriders
We finally made it over Taylor Pass. Carol was feeling down with a cold and it was getting dark, raining and cold, so we decided to go to Glenwood Springs and get a Motel and get some rest.
We went to the Hot springs Pool after breakfast at the Village Inn right across the street from the motel.
